From the moment we arrived we were so we'll looked after. The food was not only beautifully presented bit the taste was first class. I had the fish of the day and it was perfectly prepared and accompanied. We weren't rushed even though it was a Saturday lunch time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Shrewsbury.

This was a great restaurant and - until recently - very highly thought of in the town. The food remains of good quality but the service lets the kitchen down and certain basic preparations are missing. At a recent visit a request for oil and balsamic to go with bread was met with a small dish of cooking oil ('no olive oil', apparently) and some malt vinegar. My vegan companion was informed the chips were prepared in the same oil as the fish and no alternative was offered. Even worse our bill included two bottles of wine we hadn't ordered - one of which was red and we'd only drunk white, not that the waiting staff noticed until we pointed it out. The bill was almost twice what it should have been and when we complained (twice) the offending articles were removed one at a time without apology until we were happy (being a relative term in these circumstances) with the price that remained. Waiting staff are a collection of attractive, facile children presided over by a glowering ogre whose dropped consonants clatter like misplaced silverware on the reclaimed floorboards of this once-worthy establishment. The deserved star this spot occupied in the firmament of Shrewsbury's dining rooms has been sadly eclipsed by those who would wave their dim culinary ambitions about wherever they see enough money changing hands to sustain another meagre restaurant for as long as it takes to run something into the ground. Expect the dusty pall of mediocrity to be hanging in the air for a while until the ghost of this restaurant disappears completely - if you should pass by when it's busy you might catch a taste in your mouth that you thought you remembered but it's probably just the Crisp'n'Dry you had with the sourdough bloomer repeating on you.

Excellent and attentive service with knowledgeable staff at a reasonable price for what is perhaps some of the best food in Shrewsbury, highly recommend going Tues-Sat so as to enjoy the A La Carte menu

A gorgeous building with lovely staff. Even though we weren't drinking alcohol the barmaid very helpfully showed us the range of alcohol free drinks they had, even introducing us to a new favourite. We enjoyed them in a lovely, sunny secluded beer garden at the back of the building away from the main road. We've visited before and will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel, though hard to navigate between rooms when there are multiple parties. It does add to the charm though. Well decorated and maintained. It was very warm though, the radiators were on during the day and I couldnt open my windows. Breakfast was good, the servers were perhaps a bit inexperienced. Overall a nice hotel, very aesthetically pleasing.
